BOLD/GOLD is a program that utilizes the outdoors and experiential education as a vehicle to create a strong supportive environment for youth to increase their confidence, resiliency, emotional intelligence, wonder, and community awareness. Understanding more about what it means to be a young woman or man in today's society informs how we view the world. We believe these traits are the foundations of leadership and we aim to inspire participants to develop their own leadership style through developing these competencies.
The primary goal of BOLD/GOLD is to reduce and remove barriers for all youth and teens, regardless of experience, ethnicity or socio-economic status, to enjoy access to the outdoors through wilderness adventure and to build leadership values and skills.
This 9-day experience, designed for kids in grades 6-10, is held at the YMCA General Assembly facility in Black Mountain, NC, July 15-23.
The full BOLD/GOLD experience is either $700, $560, or $420 (with a $100 non-refundable deposit due at time of registration which ends May 12, 2017; balance is due by June 30, 2017). You choose the price most appropriate for your family. The top level reflects the actual cost of running the expedition (food, supplies, transportation, permits, staffing, etc...). The middle is 80% of the actual cost, and the lower level is 60% of the actual cost.
If you cannot afford 60% of the actual cost of the expedition, please complete a Financial Aid Form.
