Participants who pass the test will remain until 9:00 pm for start of class.
What will be covered in Lifeguard Training if you pass the Precourse Test
*Surveillance Skills ot hlep you recognize and prevent injuries.
*Rescue skills - in water and on land.
*First Aid training and professional rescuer CPR to help you prepare for any emergency.
*Professioanl lifeguard responsibilities like interacting with the public and addressing uncooperative patrons.
Lifeguard Class Dates
April 20
First night of class will be the precourse testing. You must be able to swim 100 meters using the American Crawl Stroke, 100 meters using the Breast Stroke, and an additional 100 meters using either of the two strokes. The combined 300 meter swim is done without stopping to rest and strokes must be performed correctly with face in the water and correct breathing techniques. There is an additional timed test to swim 25 meters, retrieve a 10 lb. brick from the bottom of the pool and return to the start place on your back holding the brick out of the water during the entire swim. Time stops when you climb out of the pool. You have one minute and 40 seconds to complete the test. Class begins same night as testing.
*Precourse nonrefundable testing fee is required to register* If you are in doubt of your ability to complete the Precourse Test as described above, you are advised to take a course on Strokes Mechanics to prepare for the Lifeguarding Course prior to testing.

Y Facility Members: $50
Program Members: $50 (Precourse Test Fee applied to Course Fee if Precourse Test is passed. Lifeguard Class: Y Facility Member $175/Lifeguard Class: Y Program Member $200) Participants who pass the PreCourse Test will sign up for the Lifeguard Class during PreCourse Test Session and pay Class Fee minus the PreCourse Test Fee.
