Spiritual

At the Georgia Mountains YMCA we want to impact the Kingdom of God not through religion, but a relationship. We desire to provide an environment in which people are able to connect or get connected with Jesus Christ on a personal level. To provide opportunity to engage in worship of our Lord Jesus Christ as the YMCA serves as an ambassador to the Lord.

We are honored and humble to be blessed with all the things that God has given us at the YMCA. He has truly blessed us beyond what we can even ask. We will continue to tap into the blessings God has for us here at the YMCA if we continue to rely on Him. In Psalm 84:11 it says, “For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does He withhold from those who walk is blameless.” If we continue to seek God and find favor in His sight, His blessings will be limitless.

We believe God has entrusted us as Christians with the privilege of telling the world and our community more specifically, the good news of gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Christ has sent us into the world to be lights in dark places. In I Corinthians 5:20 apostle Paul states, “Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.” We represent the Most High God and we are honored and humbled to be a part of His Kingdom.

1 Corinthians 9(New International Version)

19Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. 21 To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some. 23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.” At the YMCA we want to have a serious impact on the kingdom of God, and do all to reach all types of people for the glory of Jesus Christ our Savior.

Through vehicles such as Afterschool, Day Camp, Sports, Wellness, Aquatics, Teens, and Active Older Adult programming we are able to deliver resources to families and children that allow us to impact the Kingdom of God in and through various ways. This also allows us to promote character development, a positive attitude of self and others, an appreciation for good health and wellness, the acquisition of a value system, and the elevation of spiritual awareness. It is to these ends that we strive for excellence. And it is through these vehicles that we will build and strengthen the "spirits" of staff, participants, families and volunteers. You are able to get involved in the YMCA by being a part of Oasis which is a Bible Study along with Music and free dinner that takes place on the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30pm, in the Multi-purpose room at the J.A. Walters facility. This is open to anyone who would like to come. You do not need to be a member of the YMCA to attend. Also we have House of Prayer which takes place every Monday at 7:30pm and Tuesday at 10:00am in the chapel at J.A. Walters’s facility. This is open to anyone who is interested. We feel that in order to be successful in your journey with Christ you have to be engaging in a time of prayer. During this time we pray, and praise God for all that He has blessed us with.

The YMCA of Hall County exists as a non-profit; social service organization deeply committed to our Christian heritage and it's outplayed in our daily operations, programs and services in the community. With Jesus Christ as our example, we seek to lead others by embracing His principles and sharing them through programs, services and relationships. We welcome into our fellowship persons of other religious faiths and of none.

The YMCA has several programs available to our community as a resource for church groups, non profits and more. Through our own “Real Ministries” program the YMCA can partner with your group to provide youth events, worship experiences, and missions either on site or at your local church.

“Real Ministries” is set up to provide a worship experience for young adults and students throughout churches and ministries in our immediate and nearby communities. Through this ministry we have had the pleasure of providing worship to nearly 15 churches, youth groups and non profits and have included a wide scope of backgrounds and denominations. Our ministry focuses on three primary areas that we believe support the Christian faith – 1) Missions 2) Music and 3) Messages. Through each of these areas we have been able to take part in the celebration of our Christian faith with more than 1,500 students across North Georgia.

Cody Marlowe who is long time friend and employee of the YMCA along with Mike Brown, CEO would like to work with local churches like yours by utilizing the “Real Ministries” opportunity, provide YMCA programming here on site such as lock-ins, pool parties, football game nights, conferences, etc. We rely heavily on the partnerships with our church community and want to be here as a resource that bridges youth and students not attending church with churches like yours. We believe that through our “Real Ministries” program which is a program available for you at your church site or with the opportunity to partner with the YMCA we can continue to build “faith” in our youth.

We want to also express that our “Real Ministries” program which was co-founded by our CEO, Mike Brown and Cody Marlowe is very strong in its music ministry. In fact, we have recently announced our new Christian Rock Band, “CountlessDays”. The band comes fully equipped with state of the art sound equipment and lighting effects – which has made it a great program for youth groups and special events. We would love the opportunity to lead an evening for your ministry sometime in the near future.
